What I offer

Hello there! I’m Melanie, a private counsellor & psychotherapist based in Durham. Drawing from my own positive experiences with therapy, I'm dedicated to offering a compassionate and safe space for others to explore and navigate their challenges. I believe in the transformative power of counselling and am committed to fostering a collaborative and empowering relationship with my clients. Whether you’re seeking assistance in navigating life's complexities, building resilience, or simply looking for a space for personal development, therapy might be your next step. I'm here to offer you support along each part of your therapeutic journey starting from your first contact.

Why I do what I do

Having personally experienced the transformative power of therapy, I'm a strong advocate for its potential to positively impact people's lives. Despite initially harbouring reservations about counselling, my decision to give it a chance completely shifted my perspective.

Therapy played a crucial role in fostering self-kindness, boosting my confidence, and steering my life in the desired direction. These personal transformations fueled my passion to retrain as a counsellor. I’ve over ten years of experience in supporting others in their therapeutic journey. Being a therapist is a privilege that allows me to accompany others through their challenging emotions, moments of feeling stuck, and to celebrate their successes.

I appreciate the courage it takes to make those initial steps into therapy, and I'm here to support you in this.
