About Therapy

I am a private therapist based in central Durham. I work with a range of issues including anxiety, depression and low self-esteem. I have a special interest in University student counselling and bereavement counselling.

Therapy aims to help you make sense of how you’re feeling and improve your sense of well-being. You may want therapy to help you work through issues from the past or for something that is happening in your life right now.

Various reasons lead individuals to seek therapy. These may include:

  • Unable to cope with strong emotions or a feeling of numbness;

  • Lack of confidence or poor self-esteem;

  • Difficulties in relationships;

  • Loss - bereavement, pregnancy loss, relationship breakdown;

  • Trauma;

  • Identity - Gender, sexuality, race, ethnicity, spiritual/religious;

  • Student-specific issues;

  • Change or difficult decisions;

  • Personal development;

  • Feeling dissatisfied in life.

I have a Master’s Degree in Counselling & Psychotherapy and ten years of experience. I previously worked in the NHS before moving on to offer private therapy. To ensure I offer you a safe and professional service I'm accredited with the British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP) and I abide by their Ethical Framework.

I offer face-to-face, online and telephone therapy appointments on Tuesday and Thursday mornings and afternoons (subject to availability). In addition to this, I have online-only appointments on a Wednesday afternoon.

Online and telephone appointments allow you to access your sessions from the comfort and convenience of your own location. Online and telephone counselling follows the same principles as if you were accessing your sessions in person. I have undertaken specialist training in this area to ensure I provide you with a safe and ethical service.

Online and Telephone appointments mean you can access therapy wherever you are based in the UK. Appointments are available in Durham, Sedgefield, Newcastle, Sunderland and Nationally.

If you have any questions or you’d like to book a face-to-face, online or telephone appointment, please contact me.
